In 2018, an estimated 2.65 billion people were using social media worldwide. This number is projected to increase to almost 3.1 billion in 2021. Several companies took it as an opportunity to engage with their old, existing and potential customer.

100% of the top 500 fortune companies have their social media handles, and small business makes their accounts as well. The apps also facilitate the option of the user being a ‘Business’.

Instagram and Twitter are the two most common platform where the handles of these company market themselves with witty, thought-out and latest methods.

The recent is memes. A Meme is an image, video, piece of text, etc. It is typically humorous, that is copied and spread rapidly by Internet users, often with slight variations. The current social media is flooded with memes on several topics, political to movies, education to the daily routine. 

Some big names of the corporate world who are on social media started picking on these trends and never leave a chance to use them for their marketing. From Netflix and Amazon to rivalry of Burger King and McDonald’s, as the customer attention shifted on phones, these marketers shifted too.
